The Band ...

Scream Arena is a UK metal band formed in the spring of 2005 by musicians combining flair and a vision of what heavy metal should be, drawing on influences such as Judas Priest, Leatherwolf, Van Halen, Metallica, Icon, Queensryche amongst others.

Until very recently Scream Arena was known as Mars II Mercury and under that name achieved airplay with a work in progress demo for a song "Loaded" that the French 'zine Underground Investigation described as "in the style of Judas Priest circa Point of Entry" while Denmark's Pietersen Underground drew comparison with "Judas Priest and Metallica".

Encouraged by the response the band began work on their first full demo which is now circulating and being playlisted on online and standard radio stations around the world.

Favourite Songs and why?	1) ’Millionaire Waltz’ Queen- sublime madness. 2) ’ I don't believe in love’ Queensryche ...genius. 3) ’Mama Said’ TNT- Tony Harnell at his best.
Band Ambitions	To write and sing to the best of our collective ability, with the hope that something we write touches someone along the way.
Pet hates?	People that like to plant steel between shoulder blades while grinning at your face. People, who will stew in their own juices rather than face a problem and then blame someone else when all else it out of control. The virus that is Political Correctness.
Best piece of advice ever received?	Over a bourbon or two-ahem- on a late Autumn evening in Stockholm by a good friend, the closest thing to a brother I have, who noted that if one imagines one's energy as a finite quantity why waste any on those who want to give one a hard time. Good stuff. Downside is trying to live up to such wisdom.
Other interests / activities away from Scream Arena?	Travel- Luxor in Egypt, Moscow, Madrid, Stockholm in Sweden, Paris not Texas have all been the lucky recipients of a Andy K visit. Luxor is one of the most stunning places on Earth, and if anyone out there is even vaguely interested in Ancient Egypt I urge you to go.

First gig played?	As singer and bassist with Godz Autograph at The Plough, Hayton.
Favourite Songs and why?	The Great Misconceptions of Me by WASP as it has many great pieces of music all rolled into one as a finale. Tarot Woman by Rainbow as it is one of my first memories of being blown away by a riff. Come Sail Away by Styx as it gives me hope. Trial before Pilate – Jesus Christ Superstar because of the sheer emotion of Pilate when he loses it! The World by New Model Army because it sums up all the things I wanted to say about the World but was never eloquent enough to do so! Valentine by Sisters of Mercy because it’s as miserable as fuck!
Band Ambitions	To achieve the success we truly deserve!
Pet hates?	Humans, Religious nuts, Neighbors, Shirt-boys, George Bush, People who think the World is their own private rubbish dump, Birds that tweet loudly too early in the morning – should be bloody shot!
Best piece of advice ever received?	Don’t eat yellow snow!

Favourite Bands / Artists?	Mainly bands that split up or died a death in the late 80’s early 90’s e.g. White Lion, Mr Big, Van Halen etc.
First gig played?	I was 15 and we were a tad nervous which resulted in a 40 minute set being played in under 25 minutes! Our unintentional death metal version of Every Rose has its Thorn by Poison went down particularly well?
Favourite Songs and why?	Pretty much anything written by Richie Kotzen (Best Voice ever and not too shabby on the guitar/songwriting front either); White Lion (Cracking songs and Vito Bratta was a God), or Jeff Buckley (You have to be dead from the neck up not to appreciate the talent of the man)!

Best piece of advice ever received?	"Don’t touch that with your tongue" (I didn’t listen!)

Films: All the classics – Bambi, Snow White, Dumbo etc. Actresses: I have the right to remain silent as my missus might read this when she's got the decorators in and attack me with a large knife!
